AHEPA Senior Living Launches “Heart & Sole Walking Challenge” Honoring Steve Beck

FISHERS, IND. (May 4, 2026) — AHEPA Senior Living today announced the launch of its Heart & Sole Walking Challenge, a company-wide wellness initiative honoring former President & CEO Steve Beck. Running from May 4 through October 6, 2026, the program engages residents, team members, and board members across AHEPA Senior Living communities nationwide in a shared effort to promote physical activity, social connection, and heart health.

The Heart & Sole Walking Challenge is designed to bring communities together through a simple but powerful goal: keep moving. Participants will log miles weekly, working collectively at each property to “walk” toward selected destinations, fostering both collaboration and friendly competition across AHEPA Senior Living’s national portfolio. As communities reach milestones, they will set new goals and continue their journey together.

The initiative also features monthly wellness themes—Action, Heart, Exercise, Progress, and Achievement (A.H.E.P.A)—guiding participants through a structured, six-month experience that emphasizes building healthy routines, improving cardiovascular health, exploring new ways to stay active, and celebrating progress along the way.

At its core, the program reflects AHEPA Senior Living’s commitment to whole-person wellness. Recognizing that residents have varying levels of mobility, the Challenge is designed to be inclusive and accessible, offering alternative ways to participate so that all residents can engage, stay active, and feel part of the experience.

“Heart disease affects nearly every family and is on the rise,” Chairman of the Board Ike Gulas said. “This initiative brings our communities together in a meaningful way—encouraging healthier lifestyles while honoring Steve Beck’s legacy of care, compassion, and service. Thank you to our Operations, Service Coordination, and QA Teams for bringing this vision together.”

In addition to community-wide participation, the program includes a parallel internal challenge for AHEPA Senior Living team members, further strengthening engagement across the organization and reinforcing a culture of wellness at every level.

Throughout the Challenge, AHEPA Senior Living will track progress across its communities, recognize milestones, and celebrate achievements, culminating in a program-wide recognition of participation and success.

Participants are encouraged to walk for themselves, for someone they love, or in memory of those impacted by heart disease—and to reflect on a simple question: Who will you walk for?
