Heart & Sole Walking Challenge

A Community Wellness Initiative Honoring Steve Beck

May 4 – October 6, 2026

AHEPA Senior Living is proud to launch the Heart & Sole Walking Challenge, a company-wide wellness initiative bringing together residents, team members, and board members across our communities nationwide.

This six-month program encourages movement, connection, and heart health—while honoring the legacy of former President & CEO Steve Beck.

❤️ Walk with Purpose

Heart disease affects nearly every family. Through the Heart & Sole Walking Challenge, participants are invited to walk:

  • For their own health
  • In honor of someone living with heart disease
  • In memory of a loved one

Who will you walk for?

🚶 How It Works

  • Communities set a walking goal by choosing a destination 100 miles away
  • Residents and staff log miles each week
  • Teams work together to reach their goal—and keep going
  • Progress is tracked and shared, building momentum across communities

Each step contributes to a shared journey that promotes wellness and connection.

📅 Monthly Wellness Themes

Each month focuses on a key aspect of well-being:

  • Action – Build routines and get moving
  • Heart – Focus on cardiovascular and emotional health
  • Exercise – Explore new ways to stay active
  • Progress – Track milestones and improvements
  • Achievement – Celebrate success and finish strong
  • = A.H.E.P.A.

🤝 Inclusive & Accessible for All

The Heart & Sole Walking Challenge is designed so everyone can participate.

  • Alternative activity options support residents with mobility limitations
  • Simple tracking tools help make participation easy
  • Staff support ensures all residents can engage at their own pace

Every step counts—and everyone belongs.

🏆 Celebrating the Journey

Throughout the Challenge, AHEPA Senior Living communities will:

  • Track and share progress
  • Celebrate milestones along the way
  • Recognize participation and achievement

From friendly competition to shared celebrations, the program reinforces the spirit of community that defines AHEPA Senior Living.

💙 Honoring a Lasting Legacy

“This initiative reflects our commitment to the well-being of those we serve while honoring Steve Beck’s legacy of care, compassion, and service,” said Chairman of the Board Ike Gulas.
